Show Details:
Land of the Lost details the adventures of the Marshall family (father Rick, and his children Will and Holly) who are trapped in an alternate universe inhabited by dinosaurs, a primate-type people called Pakuni, and aggressive humanoid/lizard creatures called Sleestak. The episode story lines focus on the family's efforts to survive and find a way back to their own world, but the exploration of the exotic inhabitants of the Land of the Lost is also an ongoing part of the story.
The show ran from September 7th, 1974 through December 4th, 1976, on the NBC television network, airing a total of 43 episodes in all. The main cast remained the same until the third season when the father was replaced with the "Uncle Jack" character, by the time the new character was introduced, the shows popularity was winding down, and this would end up being the last season for the show.
Did they ever leave the Land of the Lost?
How many of you actually watched the show from start to finish? most people got through the first season and left after that for better shows, and other things to do... I watched the show till the end, and all I can say is it got stranger and stranger. in answer to that question, no they never leave the land of the lost. at the beginning of season 3, there is an earthquake in Land of the lost, and Rick Marshall ( dad) gets sucked through a time doorway in a pylon, at the precise moment of his departure, uncle Jack (who happens to be following the same path in a boat they did) goes over the waterfall and ends up in the Land of the Lost..
Season one finale is a tricky one, technically the family does leave Land of the lost, however a "duplicate" family arrives at the same precise moment they leave creating a "circle" hence the name of the episode.
