I was killing some extra time today and came across this picture being shared by several people on Facebook, and well with today being a cold winter-like day, I figured it would be a perfect day to touch on that subject of the impending holidays on the horizon.
First off let me hit everyone with a quick dose of reality, no really it wont hurt in the least bit.... the holidays kick off in 24 days. that's really not a whole lot of time if you think about it. now I have worked retail for many many years, and each year the holiday items have hit the shelves before Halloween is over, and it's been like that for at least 30+ years yet each and every year so many people are still convinced that it arrives earlier and earlier each year..
The Christmas holiday is the biggest money making event every year followed by Halloween in second place, thanks in full by you the consumers patronizing the stores each and every year. is it really any wonder they start filling up the aisles in the stores before Halloween hits? that way the can cash in on both holidays. how many times have you been out getting a costume for the kids, or picking up candy, and noticed the Christmas lights the next aisle over? the minute that stuff hits the shelves, it starts selling. so many people get it now while its early, that way when the rush sets in a few weeks later, everything gets picked over so quickly you don't get a chance to get the good stuff before its gone.
I completely enjoy seeing the Christmas stuff out during the Halloween season, I am one of those fools that look at the lights and see the good things about the season, Christmas and everything else about the holidays, but alas not all of my friends are and I can respect that as well, some people just don't get into the holidays unless it is actually the holiday itself if that makes sense at all.. everyone has their reasons for their choices this time of year, don't ruin it for those of us that really do like. just look the other way when you see the aisles filling up with lights, and candy canes, and stockings and more, you only get a few weeks advance, but remember its going to get here before you know it, and then you wont be able to do anything but look straight on into the hell mouth itself, The Holidays!!
