The Holiday Treasure

Back in 1973 a series of 3 shows were made for television for 3 specific holidays, Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas, there was actually 4 but the one created for Valentines day never aired.  The shows I believe were only shown the one time, as I don't recall seeing them again, maybe they did air and I just don't remember. I do know that I remember them fully, and still to this day watch them during their perspective times of the year.

The Holiday Treasure tells the story of Addie, her father and her grandmother, during Thanksgiving in the 1940's.  they live in a little farmhouse in a little town in Nebraska.  Addie's father is feuding with a local farmer that hired him to install a pond, ( her father never got paid for the job) and the two happen to run into each other at the gas station and have a small  spat.  Addie being the kind person she is, decides to find out more about the man her father is having a feud with.

Thanksgiving day comes around and Addie decides to take the old man a Thanksgiving day meal, so she sneaks a little bit of everything to the kitchen,  and packs it up and her and her friend Carley Beth ride out to the old mans place to deliver him his meal.  Addie befriends the old man and takes on the Job of taking care of his horse since he doesn't do it anymore.   Addie learns some life lessons when the old man dies..its a touching story through and through..

What was unique about this and the other shows, was that when the show would go to a commercial break, the picture on the screen would stop moving and dissolve into a picture, when you would come back to the show, it would repeat that trick..

Out of all of the shows made in the series, the Christmas one is the most popular one, and is still available on DVD. all 3 of the shows aired were all very heartwarming and are sure fire ways to make you feel warm for the holidays..
