Coaster season 2018: Cedar point

Well, the first coaster trip of the season is part of the way over, I say this as we prepare for the return journey home.  We have that lovely car adventure ahead of us, so I decided to write my review on this portion of the trip.

Part one: the journey
The drive to Cedar point is most definitely a long one, clocking in at about 7 1/2 hours, thankfully my good friend offered to do the driving, something I never do is ride, but this time I made an exception..  Unfortunately, the ride up was a wet one, rain for most of the journey, which left us feeling a little disappointed, anticipating a wet trip..   we arrived at our hotel around 6:30 relaxed a bit before heading out in search of some grub.  We finally settled on "5 Guys Burgers"  after dinner we all crashed pretty much right away, anticipating the busy day we had in store for the next day.

Part 2: Cedar Point visit
We awoke the next morning to wetness, yes it was or had been raining leaving everything eye and chilly.. Our weather apps assured us it would be a good day, and we were determined to go with that.  We arrived at the park, no rain and a few signs pointed on the direction of a fully clear day in our future..
We started off the coaster riding with the parks inverted coaster, "Raptor" which is still one of my favorite inverted coasters. The ride was exciting, and the coaster id's holding up week all these years later. I like this coaster for the fact we can all ride together in the same row. We had the fast passes so the wait time was only a matter off minutes.

Moving on we headed over to the shoreline and took a ride on "Gatekeeper" the parks winged rider coaster. This is also a favorite of mine of this type of coaster. Having the fast passes was a good thing because this line was quickly growing large.  this is another headset coaster, its super smooth, offers lot's of great elements. And its a good long ride.

After Gatekeeper, we headed over to "Valravn" a new coaster credit for me. While I'm a fan of dive coasters, they have a tendency to be repetitive with their elements, and this one follows the same pathway.  It is still however a great coaster and a blast to ride. The line moved nicely, thankfully again for the fast passes.  The view that this coaster offers from the top off the first drop is incredible!

After this thrilling coaster we headed over to"Blue Streak" the parks original coaster, the ride was quick, bumpy, and even offered a couple of shots of airtime, not bad for an old coaster.
After blue steak, we headed over to "Magnum XL 200" the worlds first hyper coaster,  and unfortunately the ride it offers isn't as exciting as it used to be. The bouts of airtime are still there, but the overall ride has gotten rough, jerking you side to side, slamming you into your seat at the bottom of the hills. Yes this is one I will be skipping out on during return visits in the future..
After Magnum it was time for another classic in the park called "Gemini" and it's a rather unique coaster, its a dual racing wooden coaster built with tubular steel track like you find on a mine train coaster.. It's actually a pretty fun coaster, even though there really isn't to much going pin with it other than some hills..

After Gemini we headed over to another incredible ride, "Top Thrill Dragster" this coaster is in a class by itself.  It's pure speed and extreme heights together for one quick but worth it thrill! If going 0-124 mph in a matter of seconds is your kind of thrill, then this is most definitely the coaster for you to check out!

After the excitement that was delivered to us from top thrill, we then succumbed to the pain that is a corkscrew coaster, aptly named "Corkscrew" of course. A bad ride, that isn't happening again any time soon.

After that horrible ride it was most definitely time for some lunch, there is a reason why I refuse to eat amusement park food, and this experience was no different.. Horribly expensive burger, that offered no taste whatsoever, at least the fries were decent enough..
After the bad lunch, it was time to ride the coaster we made the trip for, "Steel Vengeance"

I must say, its been quite a long while since I've really been blown away by a coaster, and this one most definitely blew me away and beyond! This was my first woods to steel conversion coaster by RMC, and I must say if the others are this incredible...wow

This coaster is incredible from start to finish, it wastes no time in climbing to the top off the first drop, and without hesitation you are over the top and plummeting down a 256  foot tall, 90 degree drop at 84 mph!  from there the coaster shows you who exactly is boss, by twisting you, flipping you, and lifting you out of your seat on many occasions.

After our steel vengeance experience, we only had a few more coasters to ride to complete the list, and I must say that a visit to the point is not complete without a ride on Millennium Force! The coaster opened in 2000 and it's been a top coaster ever since..
Standing at 301 feet tall,  and running around 90 miles per hour, MF is ann incredible coaster offering high speed thrills, steep drops, airtime, and it's fast paced from start you finish..

We said goodbye to MF and made our way over to what would be our last coaster ride of the day, this coaster once operated as a stand up coaster, but was recently converted to a sit down coaster a few years ago. I wasn't a fan of it as a stand up coaster because off how rough it was, and unfortunately as a sit down, its just as rough..

After riding the last one, it was time to call it Day,   I've learned that as I grow older, my time spent visiting an amusement park has been becoming smaller than what it used to be,  and I find myself getting worn out much quicker, not wanting to deal with crowds or heat from weather..  We said goodbye to the point, and headed back to the hotel and relaxed for a bit before heading out to dinner a few hours later.. Upon returning to the room, we all went to our rooms for the night ...

We awoke the next morning bright and early, ready to make the journey home..there is a second part to this journey/vacation but more on that later..
