KISS Destroyer: the make-or-break decision

KISS was struggling when the first started, they released their first three albums to little or no response whatsoever. When they would play shows the reviews, they received weren't very promising or kind. To change their path a bit they decided to do something that bands didn't do at the time and that was to release a live album. KISS knew they were stronger on stage than they were in the studio, and releasing a live album was going to prove to the world just that. when they released "Alive!" it was a monumental success for the band, and it made KISS a household name!

After the success of Alive! the band knew that they had to keep the momentum going and the next album was going to be the make-or-break point of their career. They pulled in writers and producers and a lot was invested into the production of Destroyer, the band's 5th album and they wanted it to blow KISS off the charts. They made the right decisions and Destroyer was a huge success for the band. Destroyer spawned several songs that are still staples in the bands shows 40+ years later.  Destroyer was also the first album to have the band as cartoon images instead of using the real members.
